New Order

It's the news I've been waiting for: New Order will play the Hammerstein Ballroom on May 5th. Tickets go on sale Friday, April 1st at 11 AM EST. All of this news comes via New Order Online.

It's no surprise this gig is schedule for Hammerstein. A show at any smaller venue would have been sweet, but of course it would have made it an even tougher ticket. As it is, Hammerstein should sell out almost immediately. Get your refresh finger ready!

If you've heard the song, it might lead you to believe this album is the sequel to The Notwist's Neon Golden. Really it's the only track that comes close to recapturing the melancholy beauty of Neon. Elsewhere, Themselves rap over smoothed out, Notwist-style beats and moody instrumentals threaten with dark edges and muted voices. Overall the album doesn't quite satisfy the urge for new Notwist material, but it's more than just a placeholder.

Thanks again to New Order Online for keeping us in the know.

Low-Cal Morning Reading

Tiny Mix Tapes has Spoon's U.S. tour itinerary and it includes two New York shows, June 8-9, with Clientelle. That's the good news. The bad news is they are playing Webster Hall. Tickets are not on sale as of yet. Gimme Fiction, the new Spoon record, is released on May 10.

Radiohead are working on a new album, NME reports. The articles provides scant details, other than the band is rehearsing and "it's fun."

The La's are reforming to play the Summer Sonic festival in Tokyo. Yeah right. They'll be third on the bill, right below The Smiths and The Cocteau Twins.

This Live Journal has a couple nice SXSW pictures, including Bloc Party and Kaiser Chiefs.
